Children will participate in a variety of learning experiences that aims to cultivate language development, meet social-emotional needs, develop gross and fine motor skills, increase problem-solving abilities and develop a love of literacy and learning. Students will learn through play and discovery in and outside of the classroom while meeting NYS Pre-k Common Core Standards.
Throughout Pre-K, students explore their feelings and what makes them a unique and special individual. Through their school curriculum, students develop the following: Self-awareness, Self-Regulation, Positive Relationships with Others, Accountability, and Adaptability.
A Typical Day in Pre-K Includes: * Arrival and Morning Routines - Including signing in and practicing daily hygiene routines * Instructional Breakfast - Children build their independence in serving themselves and holding meaningful conversations with their teachers and peers. * Morning Meeting - The class gathers together to examine new topics and share their thoughts and ideas * Center Time - Students explore various centers and thematic materials around the room. Mathematics, writing, reading, speaking, and the development of literacy skills are fostered through play. * Gross Motor Play- Students spend time running, jumping, hopping and developing their gross motor skills (Outdoor Play-) * Read Aloud - Students listen to and discuss various genres of literature. Questions are asked and students use their critical thinking skills to generate a response. * Rest Time - Children allow their bodies to rest and recharge. * Music and Movement - Children move and interpret music through physical movement.
